Process and applications engineer (f/m/d)-Automation Background

What will you do?

The candidate will work as part of the R&D and Applications departments. This position offered will allow the candidate to participate in several projects where he will work towards optimizing automated processes for alignment and assembly (e.g. fibre and micro-optics, laser soldering) as well as testing. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with Tyndall’s engineers and researchers and learn from their experience while developing new assembly and packaging concepts. The candidate will program the assembly processes in the ficonTEC’s proprietary software

The candidate will communicate his/her ideas to the team as well as to other engineers in different locations within the company and will have the opportunity to interact with ficonTEC’s customers. Due to the given activities, ficonTEC expects a willingness to travel 70% of the working time for this position. An unrestricted travel permit is required.

From a technical perspective, the candidate, will have strong programming skills. Knowledge in data analysis and project management is desirable.

Your Qualifications

Education

  • Have a bachelor or M.Sc. degree in any software engineering, computing, automation, electronics or related field.

Technical:

  • Basic knowledge of project management
  • Good understanding of automated systems
  • Good knowledge of optical and electronic test equipment
  • Basic theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in at least 3 of the following optical technologies:
  • lasers
  • free space optics
  • fiber optics
  • telecom/datacom
  • optical sensing
  • lidar
  • Good knowledge of optomechanical assemblies
  • Good knowledge of Solid Works is highly desirable.
  • Strong programming skills (Python, C++, Labview)
  • Knowledge of electronics: reading schematics, demonstrate the ability to identify components and explain basic electronic theory of circuits.
  • Good data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Communication and soft skills:

  • Good presentation skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Good documentation skills
  • Comfortable working within multi-disciplinary and multicultural engineering teams
  • Must be proactive, self-motivated with good teamwork spirit
  • 70% of travel-time
  • No Visa or sponsorship will be provided by the company
